Robert H. Roche
Founder and Chief Executive Officer

In 1989, Mr. Roche founded CTRL Systems, Inc., bringing his extensive sales, marketing, product development, strategic planning, and operations experience to the company.

Prior to starting CTRL, Mr. Roche was VP & GM of Convergent Insight Distribution Systems, Hunt Valley, MD. Starting from a single initial customer, Mr. Roche built a turnkey computer system to serve the route distribution industry. This division of Convergent provided hardware, software, training and support. The system integrated all functions of the company including accounting, inventory, routing, delivery, sales and market analysis, with integrated reporting back to the factory. In fifteen years the company grew to serve over 500 customers nationwide and was one of the top three suppliers to the industry.

Mr. Roche began his career serving as a programmer analyst at NASA, Ft. Meade, MD from 1969 to 1974. He served in the military during the Vietnam era from 1971 through 1977.

Mr. Roche continues to work with several government agencies and industries on behalf of CTRL to the improvement of safety (aging aircraft, nuclear power, highway) and biochemical applications for personal and facility containment within Homeland Defense initiatives. He also is collaborating with academia and other R&D research to bring about a fuller awareness of the benefits and contributions of acoustic ultrasound.

Dr. Vladimir Herman
Vice President, Research & Development

Dr. Herman leads CTRL's R&D group, and counts among his many accomplishments numerous patents, in both his native Ukraine and the United States. He graduated with honors from the Kiev's Aviation University in the former Soviet Union and earned a Masters degree in electronic engineering. He was awarded the Silver Medal from the USSR's National Exhibition of Achievements for his development of test equipment for aircraft navigation and landing systems, and their prestigious Gold Medal for inventing and developing an ultrasonic device with unique sensitivity and selectivity. Dr. Herman worked as a design engineer, senior design engineer, design team leader and Head of a Special Design Bureau in Kiev, Ukraine, from 1967 through 1993. In 1991, he earned a Ph.D. for his scientific achievements in non-destructive testing and technical diagnosis.
