UL101 used to discover a missing tooth on a gear in power steering

Dennis Frankforth of Frankforth Holdings uses the UL101 regularly to diagnose engines. Recently,a customer brought in a Detroit Diesel with an issue thus far not detected. The customer had already accrued $1,400.00 is service fees, parts, etc. from other parties with no resolution.

The UL101 was used to diagnose the power steering. An irregular "tick" was noted in the gearbox. Dennis identified it as a missing or broken tooth in the gear. The diagnosis was later verified as the problem when the engine front was pulled.
