WESTMINSTER, Md. - CTRL Systems, Inc. has teamed up with Carroll Community College's Business Training Center (BTC) to educate students about leveraging ultrasound technologies for energy savings. The class will be held January 27th at the BTC from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Attendees will learn the basics of ultrasound and how to use ultrasound to find costly air and gas leaks in manufacturing and maintenance facilities. The class will also cover identifying steam trap failures and ultrasound condition-based monitoring.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE), "Leaks are a significant source of wasted energy in a compressed air system, often wasting as much as 20-30% of the compressor's output." Further, "The best way to detect leaks is to use an ultrasonic acoustic detector, which can recognize high frequency hissing sounds associated with air leaks." 1
"Lean times call for maintenance teams to do a lot with very little. An aggressive ultrasound leak detection and repair program will produce the concrete savings upper management is looking for," says Bob Roche, President of CTRL Systems, Inc.
Class includes:
- Basics of Ultrasound
- Ultrasound for Air & Gas Leak Detection and Steam Trap Assessment
- Implementing an Energy Savings Program
- Hands-on Ultrasound Technology Demonstration
- Energy Star Service and Product Provider - Profile Opportunities
- Going Beyond Leak Detection - Ultrasound for Condition-based Monitoring
