Customer SpotlightArkema Chemical Puts UL101 to Good UseArkema Chemical in Geneseo, New York, manufactures liquid organic peroxide for production of acrylics, elastomers and polyesters and other materials. They are using the CTRL UL101 (ultrasound detector) for preventative maintenance, energy savings and troubleshooting. Bringing a Raw Material Supply Line into service requires pressure gauge testing or hydrostatic testing before regular operation can begin. During the required testing, Arkema engineers use the CTRL UL101 to detect leaks before the pipe goes into service. Combining this preventative maintenance measure with the required test has saved the engineering team time and money.Arkema Chemical has an aggressive energy savings program. One component of their program is leak detection using the UL101. Eighty-eight leaks were found on their last leak detection audit. Troubleshooting a failing piece of equipment can become a time sink. To save time Arkema uses the UL101 to troubleshoot their vacuum strippers.
