| US Navy Fleet Advisory Authorizes the UL101 for Vacuum Leak |
| Posted on Jan 18, 2010 |
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Earlier this week, CTRL Systems, Inc. received notification that the U.S. Navy posted a fleet advisory stating CTRL’s UL101 (ultrasound detector) is recommended and authorized to be used onboard ships and dockside to locate vacuum leaks on the Vacuum, Collecting, Holding and Transfer (VCHT) systems.
The NSWCCD-SSES 631 tested the UL101 in land-based and shipboard VCHT systems. Tests concluded that the UL101 is capable of quickly locating vacuum leaks. Conventional methods were cited to be labor-intensive and time-consuming.
The advisory recommends the UL101 ultrasound detector for ships in the DDG-51, LPD-17, and PC-1 classes, and hulls LCS-1, LCS-2 and CVN-77. The detector is available in the stock system under NSN: 6635-01-534-2512. Manuals and documentation will be updated to reflect the advisory.
“This is the first of many announcements we are expecting for 2010 regarding the U.S. Navy. CTRL continues to work with the Navy, both marine and aviation, to integrate our software and sensors for condition-based monitoring maintenance tasks,” said Bob Roche, president of CTRL Systems, Inc.

| | US Air Force and US Marines Aviation Select the CTRL UL101 |
| Posted on Jul 8, 2008 |
CTRL Systems announced today that the first orders for the new kit configuration PN 000038 have been received.
Earlier this year the final testing and logistics were completed by the USMC & USAF to make the new kit, which includes the CTRL UL101 as the new Ultrasound Test Kit for multiple aircraft such as the KC-135, C-130 Hercules, AV-8B Harrier, F-16 Falcon, F-18 Hornet, H-60 Black Hawk, P-3 Orion, F-22 Raptor and others.
The new NSN for this kit is 6635 01 534 2512, which replaces the older device PN 4918A that is no longer available. During the testing with the AV8 team, it was confirmed that the CTRL UL101 matched and/or improved the requirements of the prior device. The new item is now in the inventory control systems of the Air Force and Navy and is being added by other contractors who support these aircraft.
This selection was due in part to the earlier work CTRL had done with regards to the Joint Strike Fighter (F-35) project. The CTRL UL101 was selected to be part of the QC and aftercare equipment list for that platform (see CTRL press release March 17 2005).
CTRL continues to expand its list of partners of need for this technology as its applications include both commercial and defense sectors. "We welcome this new group of users from DoD aviation. CTRL has been working with various departments within DoD for over the past nine years." stated Bob Roche, CEO of CTRL Systems, "Continue to watch for other new advances to be added to our products and services of ultrasonic non-destructive testing (NDT) for condition based monitoring (CBM)."
CTRL Systems, Inc. designs and manufactures a line of ultrasound non-destructive testing (NDT) devices, CTRL UL101 and data capture systems, SoundCTRL that use the properties of ultrasound to provide a quick and accurate method for testing the condition (CBM) of components such as bearings, gears, gas lines, pumps, non-pressurized & pressurized vessels. These products are an integral part of CTRL's complete turnkey system, in use by the aerospace (NASA ISS), aviation, petrochemical, pulp & paper, railroad, automotive, manufacturing, and power generation industries, as well as the US and other military air, land and sea operations.
